EARLY ACTION IN STROKE

The ‘Angels’ saving lives in emergency services

Based on international best practice and adapted for the South African situation this clinical multimedia training programme helps emergency medicine practitioners to reduce stroke mortality and morbidity

You will gain:

  • 12 CEUs
  • Completing all 4 modules earns a competency certificate from the Emergency Care Society of South Africa (ECSSA)

You will learn to:

  • Understand and apply rapid response actions in stroke events
  • Evaluate and stabilise the stroke patient to improve outcomes
  • Use tools such as FAST, the NIH stroke scale assessment (NIHSS) and a specially developed checklist
  • Deliver patients quickly and efficiently with pre-notification actions to appropriate hospitals
  • Understand the treatment approaches of stroke management
